Site title font

Appearance → Customize → Site Identity → Text logo typography.

The site name in the header gets its own treatment, because a masthead is the one heading that usually should differ from the headings under it.

It only applies while no image logo is uploaded. With an image, use Image logo height.

No face

The site name always uses your heading font. A masthead in a third family is a different site, not a different setting — so the dropdown is not offered.

The two fallbacks read differently

That difference is spelled out in the labels precisely so the two do not read alike.

Letter spacing on phones

The theme drops the masthead’s tracking to zero on small screens, where a tracked uppercase name eats the whole bar.

Filling in the letter spacing box holds your value at every width. Leave it empty for tracking on desktop and none on mobile, which is the sensible default.

Sizing it

1.2em sits comfortably in the default 60px bar. If you raise it much past 1.6em, raise the header height too, or the masthead will crowd the bar.

Fill the mobile box when the desktop size is large: a 2em uppercase site name is most of a phone screen’s width.

Colour

Site Identity → Text logo color, just below. Empty follows the header text colour, so a dark header gets a light masthead automatically. The tagline has its own picker so you can mute one against the other.
