FAQ

Does the theme use Google Fonts?

No, and it cannot be made to. The font dropdowns offer nine web-safe stacks that need no download at all, plus any family you install yourself through the WordPress Font Library, which is served from your own domain. The default is the system font stack. See System fonts vs. Google Fonts.

Customize → Footer → untick Keep credit text to Owldraft?. The theme is GPL and the licence does not require you to keep it. See Copyright.

Does it need any plugins?

No. Everything documented here works on a plain WordPress install. See Recommended plugins for the ones worth adding for jobs the theme deliberately leaves alone.

Where are the theme options?

Appearance → Customize. There is no separate options page. Where every option lives maps each setting to its section.

Why is my sidebar not showing?

Almost certainly because the widget area is empty — a sidebar layout with nothing in it falls back to one column. If you are logged in you will see a note in the column explaining it. See Enable the sidebar.

Can one post have a different layout from the rest?

Yes. The Post options / Page options box in the editor sidebar carries a Layout radio group; leave it on Site default to follow the Customizer. See Single post layout.

Is it a block theme?

No, it is a classic theme. You write in the block editor, but the site frame comes from the Customizer rather than the Site Editor. See Block editor support.

Will an update change how my site looks?

No. When a release changes a default, the theme writes your old value into the control on the first page load after the update, so a published site keeps exactly the look it had. See Update the theme.

How do I add a subtitle to a post?

The Subtitle field in the Post options box in the editor sidebar. It shows under the title on the single post. See Post subtitle.

How do I add social icons?

Build a menu of Custom Links and assign it to the Social menu location — the theme reads each URL and prints the right icon. See Social menu.

Can I show full posts on the blog home instead of excerpts?

Yes. Customize → Blog → Post text → Full content. Use a More block in each post to control where the teaser stops. See Excerpt or full content.

How do I make a page my homepage?

Settings → Reading → Your homepage displays → A static page. For a blocks-built landing page, set it to Full width and tick Hide page title? — the theme drops the top padding for exactly that combination. See Full width and narrow.

Where is the changelog?

Here, and on the theme page at owldraft.com.

How do I get help?

Support.
